This post is dedicated to Baby Molly. Sawyer got Baby Molly as a Christmas present this past Christmas. Baby Molly (pronounced either baby wally or baby money) goes everywhere with Sawyer. She is very into pretending right now and it is so cute!

Sawyer starts off the day getting ready in the morning with Baby Molly.

My parents were in town this weekend and it was so nice to have help. The accident count is way down now and we were actually able to get out of the house, which was a nice change. I love summer, and we spent lots of time outside playing too.

Saturday we went over to Papa and Mimi's to swim. I got these puddle jumpers for the kids and couldn't wait to try them out. They are awesome!!! I highly recommend them. They helped Mason and Sawyer be able to swim on their own so much better than regular arm supports, and now I will be able to take the kids swimming on my own. Mason has no fear and loves to go off the diving board. He will jump off, swim to the ladder, climb up and jump off again all on his own. And he will do it over and over and over and over.... Crazy kid. Sawyer is not as adventurous, but did go off a few times.

Here is a little potty training update...Day 4 of potty training did not go well. Sawyer seemed to have gotten it and was doing great, hadn't had an accident until she had to go #2. Then it was downhill for her after that. Mason had triple the accidents than he did the day before. It was so discouraging and frustrating.

Then the next day, after breakfast, I was getting their clothes to get them dressed and Sawyer says, "I need to go potty." I run her in the bathroom and her underwear are full of poo. So take them off and sit her on the frog potty. Then Mason runs in and starts to pull down his underwear, says "I'm stinky." As he is pulling his underwear off, poo falls out, he steps in it, smears it everywhere. Sawyer is saying, "I need a wipe, I need a wipe, I need a wipe." So I get Mason on the big potty and start trying to get the poo off the floor, Mason's foot, the potties, the kids, my hands... all while trying to keep them sitting on the potties so they don't spread it more and so that I can wipe them down good before I put undies back on. Ah. By this point I was already so discouraged and frustrated I was ready to go get the diapers and say forget it. We will try again later. The afternoon saved me though. One of my closest friends came over with her kids for a play date and encouraged me. She is one of the most laid back people ever, and listening to her advice helped a lot. She told me that all kids are different and to do what works for us. If we need to use pull ups on road trips, then do it. If a timer or naked training would work better for mason, then do it. And then my parents got in town after naps for a couple days. So I had some help! And I felt like maybe I could keep this up.

Day 6 was much better. Sawyer didn't have an accident all day and went #2 on the potty for the first time. Mason was still saying , "no go potty" and having lots of accidents. So I decided to put him on a timer and try that. It seemed to work much better with him. He started at 20 minutes and is up to 25 minutes now. The timer is great for him because when it goes off he knows he has to stop and go.

They are still having accidents but not near as many. Sawyer definitely got it down better than Mason. He is not interested in taking time out of his day to go potty. She is telling us when she needs to go though and he is going every 25 minutes on the timer. I think we are making progress and that we will get there eventually. But I did not realize how much this would change our day to day! It will be hard to run errands for a while, at least until they are holding it longer and better at telling us. And it will make the rest of our summer vacations a little harder! But they really are doing well. So far today, neither of them have had an accident!

Potty training is rough. I wanted to quit 30 minutes in and still kinda do a little bit even though we are so close. It could have been worse, I know. But it was bad. I know it is taking a little longer because I can't focus completely on each of them. I decided to do the 3 Day Potty Training Method. A fellow twin mom, Kristi, just did it with her girls and has helped me out so much with it.

The first day was the worst. they peed constantly. I don't know how a little person can pee that much or that often. I couldn't get messes cleaned up before there was another. I thought they would never stop peeing. We didn't leave the bathroom except for lunch. And at lunch we got up 3 times to go potty. After the third time I decided they didn't need to eat anymore. After naptime was better. Not great but better. Sawyer woke up dry!!! Mason did not. I decided then that I would do pullups at night until they wake up in the morning dry or are in a toddler bed. After naptime Sawyer didn't have a single accident!! Granted she spent like 5 hours in the bathroom and went potty 8 times in row once, but her panties stayed dry. It was so encouraging. They also went a lot longer in between peeing.

Highlights-

-While I was chasing a naked Sawyer to get her undies back on Mason was in the bathroom stiring his pee in the big potty with my hairbrush. Great.

- While I was wiping up a huge pee puddle Sawyer gets up off the frog potty and Mason picks up the bowls and dumps a TON of pee out all over the floor. At this point, there is nowhere to stand that is not wet.

-Mason tried to sit in a large teapot with his undies on and peed in it.

-Sawyer was sitting on her potty seat watching to see if she was peeing and she started shaking her head and said, "it's no working mommy."

The second day was as a little bit better and a lot worse. Better- they held it a lot longer. It was also harder because Eric had to work that night so he was in the room next to the bathroom sleeping. It was harder to spend time in their room (which is carpet). So one would start peeing on the floor and I would scoop them up and run to the potty (like the book says), but then I would have to run back and grab the other kid (who was usually upset because they had to stop playing). You are supposed to keep your kid in sight at all times so that you can watch them and remind them to tell you when they need to go potty. But by the time I got the first situated the second was usually peeing everywhere now. So I would have to run that one in too. So I have two kids needing a wipe, m&m, to flush, not wanting to put undies back on, wanting to flush 50 times, etc. And two messes and trails to clean up and keep them out of all while making sure they don't turn around and go again. And try to keep them quiet... fun right???

Photobucket

The third day was much better. Not great, but much better. We had 6 accidents total. Mason-4, Sawyer-2. They still won't poop on the potty (tmi, i know), so we still have a ways to go. But the book said multiples would probably take longer (I'm sure a big part of that is that you aren't able to devote your full attention to each child when there is more than one!). We are on our way to being potty trained though. It will just get better, right? :)

We just got back from a long relaxing vacation in Vegas! We met some friends out there and spent 5 days relaxing. We stayed at Aria for the first time and it is our new favorite hotel. It was awesome. The rooms are so nice. Super modern and completely automated. I loved my goodnight button that turned of all the lights in the room! Oh and the beds were super comfy. Lots of pool time, shopping and a pedicure for me. Lots of poker, craps and 3 card poker for Eric :) Our friends took us to Texas de Brazil for the first time and the food there was great. We went and saw a new show while we were there - The Lion King. It was great. Not as good as Cirque, but the costumes were amazing.

This is the wave pool/beach at Mandalay Bay. Elizabeth got a cabana there our last day and the pools there are great. There was a wave pool, lazy river and 2 or 3 regular pools. Nice.
