Best Friends

Lauren and Rachael came to Abilene this week to hang out! We have all been best friends since college and we try to get together a couple times a year (at least) even though we live in three different towns now. It was good to see them and so much fun to see the kids play together.

Here are all four kids- Sawyer, Micah (Rachael's 9 month old), Mason and William (Lauren's 15 month old).

Sawyer loved playing with, I mean taking care of Baby Micah. She was such a cute little mommy helper the whole time.

Mason on the other hand, was a rough little boy with way, way too much energy.

But they were all so cute and loved playing with each other.

We went to the zoo one day.

new room

I recently rearranged the kids room. I wanted them to have more of a play area and a sleep area, and for them to be able to walk around their train table.

So here is their room....

They are LOVING playing with the train table. And I am loving how much easier it is to keep clean.

Not Me Monday

I did NOT put a pair of frilly purple Dora panties on mason when he peed in his underwear at a playdate because that was all I had in my purse.

And I did NOT leave him in those panties the rest of the day until we went swimming at 6. No way. Not me.

And I did NOT take pictures of him in these girly panties while Sawyer kept saying, mommy those are my panties.

I did NOT eat potty training m&m's while laying in bed reading last night.

I did NOT leave those m&m's on the nightstand where Sawyer could reach them.

And I did NOT find her dumping them and stuffing her face. No way, not me. Never.

big kid beds

It all started because I decided to rearrange their room. I like to do that, a lot (full post on that to come). But our house is so small I don't get to very often. I mean how often can you rearrange a 2 bedroom that had too much stuff in it anyway? But the kids played with their friends Brody and Dylan's train table the other day and loved it, so I decided it was time to break out the tracks. Back in December I won this awesome train table from Kids Village, but it has been used as just a plain table since then because I decided I didn't want to pick up 150 train pieces everyday. But they are older now and can play with the table and not just tear it apart.

You have to understand, their room is small and stuffed with both of their beds, a recliner and tons of toys, etc. I didn't know how I could make it where they could walk around the table. So one night I got it in my head I wanted to do this and stayed up ridiculously late imagining different ways in my head (this is how the whole backyard project happened last summer).

So I figured out how to rearange it and make it work, but their beds had to be next to each other. Can anyone say play time?? It started out with Mason just stealing Sawyers toys the first day at nap. Then when I went in to check on them that night she had figured out how to hide them all from him.

Then yesterday during naptime Sawyer started screaming. Really, really loud. Like she was hurt. So I ran in there and Mason was in her bed and her leg was stuck in between the cribs she was straddling. So I put them back in their beds and told them to stay there. Five minutes later Sawyer starts screaming, "Bubby in my bed momma, come get him!" And repeat.

When Eric got home last night we turned their beds to toddler beds :( I have been avoiding this like the plague. They still take long naps and still really need those long naps, but I could totally see nap time turning into play behind closed doors time real easy with those 2 in the same room. And the time that they sleep is when I get all of my photo editing work done, so I need that nap time! After all of the climbing out though we decided it was time...

I made a really big deal out of their big kid beds and they were so excited about them. They love climbing in and out of them. When we put them down last night Mason got out once. But after Eric put him back nobody got out again. Wow right? So I went to bed early afraid that I would wake up to 4 little eyes in my face at 6 am. But I didn't hear them until 7:30 this morning! And I got up and went in to check on them and they were still in their beds. Amazing. Now I know that the newness will wear off and they will start getting in and out at some point, but this was WAY better than I expected for the first go around.

And just because it is so funny and so 2. Who's the drama queen?

Asleep last night :)

Since nap time is what I was most worried about, I was fully prepared for it to be awful today. But after many potty trips and finding babies, etc.... once I finally got them in their beds for their nap they have stayed. Hallelujah! This might not last, but I am so happy right now that they have handled the transition so well to begin with!
