New Foods

Mason and Sawyer are feeding themselves now at every meal and this past week they have had some interesting new additions. On Sunday we went to lunch with the Groves and Emma fed Mason pizza and coke while I was getting my pizza at the buffet. Then today Sawyer found the tote with Charlie's dog food, got it open and ate some before I could get it away from her! Coke and dog food were definitely not on my list of things to add to their diet, but what are you going to do? Ha!

We are trying to avoid the icy weather and all of the RSV that is going around right now. So many people are sick and I am just hoping that we don't get it. It doesn't help that the weather keeps changing from 30 to 80 every few days! I hope everyone has a great week.

1 Year Check up and Swinging at the Park

Mason and Sawyer had their 1 year check up this week. They got 4 shots each and have been sooo fussy! The doctor said they are doing great though. He said they are growing right along their growth curve like they should be. Mason weighed 19.3 lbs and was 28 1/4 inches. Sawyer weighed 17.10 lbs and was 27 1/2 inches. So they aren't big enough for their forward facing carseats yet, but they will be soon! I have started them on whole milk now and they are gradually starting to drink more. They are still nursing 3 times a day though.

It has been uncharacteristcally hot in Abilene this week. Yesterday was in the upper 70's and today is in the 80's. It has been great weather, but not what you would expect for January. It was so nice yesterday that I asked Chrys if she would mind taking them to the park with me. So they got to swing for the first time. Sawyer loved it! mason was so grumpy that I don't think he enjoyed it as much as he will next time.

Birthday Party

We had the babies first birthday party this weekend. We are so blessed to have such great friends and family that came to celebrate with us. The party was a prince and princess theme with a castle cake.
They weren't so sure about the cake at first, but eventually made quite the mess. Sawyer got cream cheese icing all in her hair, which smelled great.

They had lots of friends to help them open their presents, which was great since they don't really have a clue! It made it much more fun.

Thank you so much to everyone who came! It means so much to us!

Happy 1st Birthday!

"I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:13-14 NIV

It was a long journey to get here. But God is amazing, and today we have 2 one year olds. We have two beautiful, smart and fun kids. We are so blessed. It is a little bit sad and a lot exciting. I am sad that they aren't babies anymore. That I might not get to have another baby in the house again. But I am more excited to see what will come in the future. I can't wait to see what they will do, what they will learn. I can't wait to see them play sports and perform in programs. I can't wait to see them grow and to see all they will accomplish. And more than anything I can't wait to see them come to know the Lord. We have such an exciting future ahead of us.

I can't believe they were once so tiny. It was really incredible. They had teeny tiny heads, skinny little legs, and they were swimming in their clothes. It's weird to think that they used to stay where I put them, that their cries were so quiet, and that they used to just sleep all the time between feedings. Now they are only taking one nap a day and they are walking around everywhere. They are giving kisses, throwing fits, giving high fives, talking and playing all the time.

Sawyer loves to lift up our shirts and poke our belly button, she will give me a kiss on the cheek when I ask (more a lick than anything), she still walks on her tip toes and still only has 3 teeth on bottom. Mason is such a happy boy. He laughs so easily and is so ticklish, he also throws the biggest fits when he doesn't get his way, he gives high fives, and is such a boy! They are both walking everywhere now and are starting to run a little bit. It is definitely a fun age and we are enjoying every minute of it.

Here is a look back at the past year:

I saw this list on another twin moms blog and thought it was cute:

My favorite things about having twins:

10. Whenever I have a rough day, I take the twins out and hear, "I don't know how you do it."

9. I rarely feel bad about my parenting because there's usually one happy kid.

8. My husband and I never have to share "the" kid. With two, we get as much kid time as we want.

7. If I can't decide between two cute outfits, I buy them both.

6. Taking care of one kid feels ridiculously easy.

5. Most behavior (not showering, forgetting to call someone) can be explained by, "I have twins!"

4. "Can you change that poopy diaper? I'm busy with the other kid."

3. Double the hugs, kisses, and laughter.

Tied for first: Baby A (Mason) and Baby B (Sawyer)!

Happy Birthday Mason and Sawyer!!

The Difference One Year Makes

One year ago today we went in for our biweekly appointment with Dr. Mayberry. He sent us straight to Dr.Tadvick's office even though they weren't open yet. Dr. Tadvick sent us home to grab our suitcase because he said we were checking in to the hospital for the duration. I was not quite 34 weeks, so I thought that we might be there for a while before we had the babies. Turned out not to be so long since they did an emergency c-section the next day! Here is a picture of me one year ago today...I look a little different!

34 weeks (almost)
Get ready for a great one year post tomorrow!

Zoo

Mason and Sawyer went to the zoo for the first time today! Leslie called me and said they were going so we loaded up and met a couple of my friends there. It was fun to walk around and talk and to watch all of their kids run around. And it was the perfect day for it - 80 in January?!?

One Week...

In one week Mason and Sawyer will be one year old! Ah! I attempted to take some one year pictures of them yesterday and here is what I got:

We also had a special visitor this week! I haven't gotten to see her since I was pregnant, and she got to meet the babies for the first time. Bekah used to live in Kingsville and I used to babysit her and her brother. Now she is in school at ACU and I can't believe that she is old enough to be in college. She has always been very mature for her age though. It has been so much fun to get to see her again!

So old

They are both walking and only taking one nap a day now. How did they get so old so fast?
