First Road Trip

The babies had their first road trip this past week. We went to Kingsville for a week to visit my parents. The church I grew up in threw a baby shower for us too. It was a fun week and fun to get to see everyone at home. I got to go shopping, get a pedicure and watch some fun movies. A trip that normally takes 7 hours took 12 hours though. We had to stop and eat quite a bit. It makes for a very long tiring day.

Oh look, my brother has hands!

Dr Appt

We took Mason into the doctor because he had a blocked tear duct and he went ahead and gave the babies their 4 month shots. Mason weighed 11 pounds 14 ounces and Sawyer weighed 10 pounds 2 ounces. Mason is such a chunk! They are doing great though and they are growing. He said we can start them on cereal in a few weeks. I am excited to start trying that.

Busy Week

Wednesday I nearly burned the house down. I turned the on the oven to preheat and went back into the nursery. A little while later the house started to smell funny. I went to the kitchen to check it out and there was smoke pouring out of the oven! So I opened it to check it out and there were 2 pizza boxes in there that Eric had left in there from the night before!!

Thursday I felt awful and went to the doctor because I had a 102.7 fever. He put me on Motrin 800 and it went away the next day. I had no other symptoms at all so we have no idea what was wrong. Being sick is even worse when you have babies to take care of. It stinks to not be able to cur up on the couch and sleep when all you need is to rest. Something exciting that happened on Thursday though is that Mason rolled over for the first time! I put him on his tummy and went to the kitchen to get something. When I came back he was on his back. Friday I put him on his tummy again, got a drink out of the refrigerator and came back and he was on his back again!! He hasn't done it since and he won't do it when I am watching.

Saturday was a very crazy day. I had my first wedding since the babies were born. It went really well and was a lot of fun! Everything worked out well and the bad weather didn't even come until the end of the reception. It was an outdoor wedding and we were so worried about the rain the whole time. We watched the clouds get darker and darker as the wedding went on.

Baby Blessing

This Sunday was our first Sunday back to church and our baby blessing. It was so nice to get to go to church again, even though I was only in there for about 5 minutes of the service. It was just great to see all of our friends again and be out of the house.

Here is the video from Sunday morning:

Here are the babies after church:

The biggest thing that happened around our house last week is that Sawyer is getting her first tooth. It is one of the bottom middle ones. I can't believe she is already getting a tooth!

3 Months Old!

I can't believe the babies have been here for three months now! They are at such a fun stage right now. They are sleeping a little longer at night (about 5 hours at a time) and they are starting to respond to us and be awake more. They are smiling and cooing a bunch and I just love it!

Mason
  • He talks all the time, especially while he is eating
  • He smiles the most during and after eating
  • He drools constantly
  • Has the cutest belly and rolls

Sawyer
  • She smiles a TON
  • She is very easy going and very patient
  • She is so suggly and just loves to be held
  • She has rubbed a huge bald spot on the back of her head

Out and About

We are finally free to take the babies out of the house! We went to small group for the first time in a long time and have been taking short trips around town to Target and such. The trips always end with one or both babies crying and hungry, but it is nice to get out again. By the time I am done feeding them both it is almost time for the first one to eat again. I am looking forward to the day they start going longer between feedings. They are just so small still that their tummy's don't hold much food. They are starting to have a little more awake time though. And they have started to smile in response to us rather than just reflex. They both have such cute smiles and look adorable! I have had a hard time getting a good picture of Mason smiling though. I will just have to keep trying.

2 Months Old

The babies had their 2 month check up on Wednesday. Sawyer weighed in at 8 lbs 14 ounces and Mason weighed in at 10 lbs 5 ounces. Mason is so much heavier than his sister! We call him the chunk. The Dr said that they are doing really well though and are growing like they should. Here are a few things about each of them that I want to remember about this stage in their lives.

Mason:
  • Sleeps with his tongue out
  • Sticks his bottom lip out and makes the cutest pouty face when he is hungry
  • Is super strong and can hold his head up for a long time
  • Is very stubborn

Sawyer:
  • Has big blue eyes that she opens SO wide
  • Loves to cuddle
  • Makes the cutest noise after she sneezes

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped us over the last 2 months. Whether you brought a meal, babysat, came by for a visit, made a trip to Wal-Mart, brought over a Sonic drink or even said an encouraging word, it has made a world of difference. We could not have made it without you. If you actually read this blog, you probably deserve a thank you! Thanks everyone! We have such amazing friends and family :)

New Website!

Lately I have been working nonstop on my new website! I have finally finished it and launched it. I think it looks much better than the old one and I am so excited about where my photography business is going! It is so great to be doing this full time.

Tomorrow we go to the doctor for the babies 2 month check up. We will get to see how much they weigh and they will get all of their shots. Hopefully they won't be too fussy after they have their shots!
